Developing a chatbot using Retrieval-augmented generation

Gearguide is a CustomGPT tool specifically designed as an AI assistant for the automotive industry, leveraging Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology. Unlike traditional chatbots, Gearguide is a rag-based chatbot trained exclusively on motorcycle-related information from the website, ensuring accurate and relevant responses for enthusiasts. The Challenge

One of the main challenges in developing Gearguide was training the chatbot using Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology. Unlike generic chatbots that use large, generalized datasets, Gearguide had to be specifically trained on motorcycle-related data sourced from the website, requiring careful data curation and optimization to ensure accurate and contextually relevant responses.

Creating a seamless, personalized user experience posed a challenge in delivering real-time assistance. Gearguide needed to accurately identify user preferences, such as specific models, colors, and features, while quickly retrieving and processing data to provide tailored recommendations during each interaction.

Since Gearguide was designed to provide round-the-clock support, ensuring its continuous performance without interruptions or downtime was critical. The development team needed to optimize the bot’s architecture to handle high volumes of requests efficiently while maintaining response accuracy and speed.

The Process

We aligned with the business vision to develop a thorough project brief, which included extensive market research, competitor analysis, and relevant data. We then brought the concept to life by defining a detailed list of user stories and features to validate the core assumptions of the MVP.

We started by designing the key screens to show the client the product’s look. After refining the UX/UI through client feedback. Once these primary screens were finalized, we expanded the design to cover all additional screens and delivered the complete UX/UI for the product.

At this stage, we focus on developing the AI assistant for automotive industry by crafting the architecture of the AI model and training it. 

After the product launch, we collected feedback from end-users to refine and enhance the product. We introduced new iterations and features concurrently to ensure an optimal user experience.
